<Gazebo Backpackers and Home Hostel in Golden Bay New Zealand

The Gazebo Backpackers is a great place to stay for the traveller looking for the smaller, quieter experience while enjoying all that Golden Bay has to offer.

We are conveniently located midway between three national parks/reserves - Abel Tasman, Kahurangi and Farewell Spit. Did we mention the beaches?

And we are just a few minutes walk to the full services of Takaka and the Golden Bay Information Centre.

The Gazebo Backpackers really is a home. Paul the owner and his new puppy Raichel habitate the sleepout while their guests enjoy the main house with its unique facilities.

Accommodation is usually limited to 5-6 people to allow for a relaxed, friendly feel to the place. In addition, a few garden tent sites are also available.

Wheelchair access is limited. Be assured that the Gazebo and all of Golden Bay welcomes our GLBT guests. Families are welcome but young people need to be over 8 years old as the facilities could be considered dangerous for unsupervised children.

Paul the owner is fully knowledgeable in all the great local attractions - especially those that are best for the budget traveler. Ask him about local tramping (hiking), cycling, caving, rock climbing and kayaking.

Into the alternatives? Paul can guide you to our nude beaches, communes, spiritual centres and gay resorts. He'll try his best to find what will make your stay in Golden Bay the most enjoyable. He will even recommend one of the other great backpackers in Golden Bay if that's what fits you better.
